About the Event Rider Masters series

The Event Rider Masters is a new series this year, which aims to raise the standards of sports presentation in eventing and make it more accessible and exciting for a wider audience.

The classes take place at CIC3* level and have 40 starters — if the event is oversubscribed, the riders are chosen according to their world ranking,.

Blenheim is the sixth and final event in the series.

Event Rider Masters dates for 2016:

  • Dodson & Horrell Chatsworth International Horse Trials (14-15 May)
  • Equi-Trek Bramham International Horse Trials (10-11 June)
  • St James’s Place Barbury International Horse Trials (9-10 June)
  • Festival of British Eventing at Gatcombe Park (6-7 August)
  • Blair Castle Equi-Trek International Horse Trials (27-28 August)
  • Blenheim Palace International Horse Trials (10-11 September)

The first ERM at Chatsworth was won by France’s Astier Nicolas on Piaf De Bneville, while the second at Bramham went to China’s Alex Hua Tian on Don Geniro. At Barbury top honours went to New Zealand’s Andrew Nicholson on Nereo, while Gatcombe saw Oliver Townend become the first British rider to top the Event Rider Masters podium scooping the first prize of £16,000 riding Cillnabradden Evo. Oliver then followed this up with a second win at Blair.
